Abstract

The article considers the patterns of
groundwater movement in the Fergana Valley,
as well as the possibilities of their desalination for
reuse in irrigation. Particular attention is paid to
the design and hydraulic characteristics of the
Great Fergana and Andijan Canals, their role in
water supply of agricultural lands. The process
of concentrated salt liquid movement in pipes
and canals is described, flow regimes (laminar,
turbulent, transitional) and the influence of the
Reynolds number on the distribution of salt
concentration over the cross-section of the flow are
considered.

Recommendations are given for the effcient
use of drainage water in order to save fresh water
during irrigation.
